If you are using the services provided by Advanced Shipping Manager (ASM), and have purchased 3dcart’s special integration with that service; the following article will show you how to configure your store and products.
If you have questions or require assistance on using the specific Advanced Shipping Manager, we suggest you contact ASM directly.
Connecting ASM to your Store
Once you have acquired and set up your account with Advanced Shipping Manager, the first step in the 3dcart process is to tie the account to your 3dcart store.
- Log into your 3dcart Online Store Manager
- Using the left hand navigation menu, go to Settings ->Shipping
- Next, click on the “Edit Settings” button under Shipping Settings
- Look to the right hand side to the Carriers section where you will see an area for Advanced Shipping Manager.
- Click on the Show Credentials link in the ASM row and enter your Advanced Shipping Manager Store ID.
In all likelihood, your store ID will already be there. However, please be sure to verify that it is correct to your ASM account before proceeding with the rest of this article.
Configuring your ASM product Variables
The next step in the 3dcart process is to specify the Advanced Shipping Manager options that will be used by your individual products.
While still logged into the 3dcart Online Store Manager:
- Go to Products ->Product List
- Locate the product you’d like to configure and click on its thumbnail image, name or ID to open it.
- On the Product’s Information Tab, scroll down to the Shipping Options section
- Click on the “ASM Options” provided.
In a secondary popup window, you will see a form with various ASM settings. Here is where you will set up the standard ASM options for the product such as dimensional information, weights, markups, etc. Once complete, click “Save” and your product is set.
Some of the fields require specific formatting that is dictated by Advanced Shipping Manager. For details on the proper formatting to use, please refer to Advanced Shipping Manager’s support teams
CSV Import
Rather than updating each product individually, you can also set these same options via a CSV export/import.
To do this, go to Products ->Product List. Once there, look along the top right and click Export/Import
- In the “Export” section, you will see an option to Export Data specific to Advanced Shipping Manager.
- Within the “Import” section, you will see an option to Import a CSV specific to your Products’ Advanced Shipping Manager data.
The CSV export/import section will help you save time by allowing you to specify your ASM Options for multiple products in one upload.
A good suggestion would be to configure ASM options for 2 or 3 products manually. Then, export your ASM options CSV to see what each header corresponds to. Then use this same CSV to populate options for the rest of your products.
Adding your ASM Shipping Method
The final step in the 3dcart process is to add the Advanced Shipping Manager Method to your store. This will in effect display selectable shipping methods to your customers when placing orders, but the displayed rates and services will be provided directly from your Advanced Shipping Manager service – based on whatever rules and options you have configured on ASM.
While still logged into your 3dcart Online Store Manager:
- Log into your 3dcart Online Store Manager
- Using the left hand navigation menu, go to Settings ->Shipping
- Next, click on the “Select Methods” button under Shipping Methods
The very first option in the “Additional Shipping Methods” section will read “ASM – Advanced Shipping Manager.” Click the “+Add Methods” link alongside it.
Specify your Shipping method variables such as weight ranges, Customer group, country/state restrictions and markups if desired. These will dictate whether the Shipping Method will apply to the order in the first place.
For example, if the ASM shipping method is to be restricted to show up only for your Wholesale customers, you would specify its customer group for that group in your store. However, if it is allowed to show up for ALL of your customers, the customer group can be specifed with “All” as shown.
- After you are done configuring the Shipping Method options, click add.
Your store is now set up to use Advanced Shipping Manager.
